Activities
This activity aims to develop a rapid appraisal framework, based on key indicators and descriptions of interactions, that will help characterize the interactions between SSF and SDGs.
The objectives of WP1 are:
- Compile existing knowledge about SSF sustainability and SDG indicators;
- Develop a rapid appraisal framework to evaluate interactions between SSF and SDGs;
- Test the framework for its capability to discuss priorities and explore possible trade-offs.
This activity will use WP1 rapid appraisal approach in each of the six countries by engaging with diverse stakeholders, helping create a community of practices at the interface between SSF and SDGs. This will help assess evidence-informed synergies and trade-offs between SDGs.
The objectives of WP2 are:
- To build national transdisciplinary communities of practices through country-level case studies;
- To characterize interactions between SSF and SDGs in the six countries using the Rapid Appraisal Framework;
- To summarize interactions for each individual case study.
This activity will analyze the data collected, comparing and contrasting the findings of each country and identifying data, knowledge, and policy gaps. Findings will then be shared with stakeholders from participating countries to help them identify potential pathways for sustainability in their own national context.
The objectives of WP3 are:
- To synthesize lessons learned from the application of the rapid assessment framework including a relative comparison of positive and negative inter-linkages among three or more SDGs from the six case studies;
- To generalize and de-contextualize the connection between SSF and the achievement of SDGs through qualitative research synthesis of six case studies;
- To supply and disseminate evidence of SSF contributions to SDGs for scientific-informed management and policy decisions that involve synergies and trade-offs between and within SDGs.
