The Espace-Dev site of Perpignan hosts members of the University Via Domitia within an internal team of the university.

The multidisciplinary team carries out fundamental and applied research. The themes addressed give rise to academic and industrial collaborations, both nationally and internationally. It is member of fundamental and applied research networks, in particular the Systems Theory network.

ESPACE-DEV is also part of the GDARGO site, which hosts marine geophysical acquisition data used for the modeling of sedimentary reservoirs (aquifers or hydrocarbons).

Its members are strongly involved in the teaching and life of the faculty of Exact and Experimental Sciences.

Main research themes

ESPACE-DEV is composed of modeling and experimental scientists working on problems related to the environment and health. Environmental issues are approached at both macroscopic (simulation of global acidification) and microscopic scales (change related to stress induced within a cellular organism). Public health issues addressed in a holistic way, focus on the ecology, evolution and control of infectious diseases.

The main lines of research addressed by the team are:

  • Modeling of complex spatio-temporal systems, cellular automata and numerical treatments
  • Marine systems modeling, biogeochemical cycles and anthropogenic carbon
  • Fluorescence spectroscopy applied to cell biology
  • Climate impacts and ocean acidification
  • Health ecology and eco-systemic public health services
